Embers is Now Booking a Southwest Tour

Embers will be touring from April 8 through April 16 for a quick South West or So Cal tour. Right now we're not sure if it's a Southwest Tour or a So Cal Tour because we haven't confirmed any out of state shows yet. That said if anyone out there wants Embers to come your way and live in the general area I'm describing please contact us as soon as possible because we still have some open dates to fill.

On other news we have heard the re-mixed rough mix of half of our upcoming album and everything is sounding good. We will have our album mixed and mastered before this upcoming tour and will be doing the pre-release free streaming and free download event prior to hitting the road.

The possibility of having a limited edition self released album on vinyl may or may not happen before then, but that depends a great deal on timing and logistics.

Where Do We Go From Here?

Embers has been laying low since losing our keyboardist Lillian Phaeton, but there is still a lot going on. We're mixing our new album, playing some upcoming shows, planning for a tour to coincide with the release of our new album, and brainstorming to figure out what kind of configuration our line-up will become since losing both our violist and keyboardist.

The Album

We have been working on a new full length album since completing our last tour. This is the first album without Nine's viola and the last to feature Lillian Phaeton's keyboards. We have been playing many of the songs on this album live so a quick search of the web will produce some live footage of the new material. The album is being recorded and mixed at Earhammer Studios by Salvador Raya as were our first album as well as our split L.P.

Progress on the mixing has been pretty slow due mainly to us deciding prior to finalizing the mix to start all over. At first we wanted to use only our live guitar tracks, but we decided that the tone pretty much sucked so we recorded an entire second layer of guitars. We also re-did the entire drum mix and equalization as well. Hopefully we won't kill each other when we return to re-finalize the mix. If we decided not to re-start over we should be able to pre-release the album by the end of February, but more on that later.

Upcoming Shows

So after taking some time off from live performances we have confirmed two upcoming shows. One is a benefit for Melanie Chavarria RIP at 924 Gilman with Brainoil on February 26, 2011. The other is with Alarich and Vastum on March 25 at the Church of  thee Buzzard.

The benefit at Gilman is to raise money for the child of Melanie Chavarria who passed away relatively recently.

Squatters 1, Owners 1 (Everyone Loses)

Yesterday, the "owners"/absentee landlords mounted another violent assault against the Safehouse. There were over a dozen people attacking while only a handful of people were home. Two large men guarded both entrances threatening to beat anyone up who tried to enter.

There were fewer supporters so a counter-attack was not feasible. It appears there are some backbiting armchair anarchists spreading disinformation about the Safehouse. If anyone knows the individual who posted this blog (http://anarchistnews.org/?q=node/12901) I would love to meet them. It would be nice to know who is responsible for this slanderous character assassination.

I, unlike this person, will not write anonymous, back stabbing posts on the internet.

Right now the Safehouse and it's residents need our solidarity! Now more than ever! Contact me if you want to help.

Embers' Keyboardist, Lillian Phaeton, Leaves the Band.

Embers regrets to announce that keyboardist, Lillian Phaeton, will no longer be playing with the band. Lillian's keyboards are featured on all Embers recordings including the upcoming album due to be released next year.

Also, violist Nine's hiatus has become permanent. Embers is currently playing as a four piece featuring drums, bass, guitars, and vocals.

In light of this, Embers also announces that they are seeking a new member(s):

1. melodic instrumentation: someone who plays a melodic instrument(s) including but not limited to strings and/or keyboards.

2. multimedia:  someone who can do multimedia including, but not limited to, projections, sampling, noise, and/or other visual and sonic performances.

Ideally, Embers is seeking someone who plays both a melodic instrument and is capable of doing multimedia.

I Had the Weirdest Dream Last Night!

Have you ever had one of those dreams like you're at school, and everything seems normal. In an instant you suddenly realize that your not wearing any pants and notice that everyone is laughing at you.

Well, I had one of those dreams last night.

In the dream Embers was playing a show with an awesome line up. We were playing with two of the most crushing bands around; the Makai, and One in the Chamber. Of course this is the first sign that this whole thing is a dream because an awesome line up like that doesn't happen in real life, and get this Embers is headlining. Crazy huh.

Well, anyway. The dream starts out with me wandering around the venue. There are all these weird doors and winding hallways in the back of the warehouse. There's even a door opening out to a 10 foot drop straight into the merch room. Weird.

So the first band plays. They're called Hammerlock, and they are playing punk, but then at another moment it seems like they're playing Irish folk music. I know it doesn't make sense. Clearly a dream, but there I am wandering around these winding corridors searching for coffee, and lo and behold I find a fresh pot of coffee in a kitchen just past the door to nowhere.

Then One in the Chamber plays. They play amazing crushing spooky metal like One in the Chamber would in real life. The only difference is they only have one bass player, and everyone knows One in the Chamber has TWO bass players. You'd think I'd realize this was a dream at this point, but you know how it is in a dream you just accept the most preposterous things as a matter of fact.
